According to a report from Vibe.com, hip-hop fans will be happy to hear that a brand new film is coming out regarding the legend of the notorious rapper, Tupac Shakur, who was shot and killed in a drive-by in the late 1990s, not long before the death of Biggie Smalls.
Deadline reported that Tupac’s estate agreed to enter a relationship with the director, Allan Hughes, to create a documentary about the former’s life and experiences. Reportedly, the film will feature never-before-seen content such as poetry and recordings.
The site reports that the film will be the first and “definite comprehensive project” on the life of Tupac, moreover, it has the full participation and consent of the rapper’s estate. Hughes and Tupac started working together in the early 1990s.
Allan and Albert Hughes directed his video for the rapper’s iconic track, “Brenda’s Got A Baby.” Played by Vonte Sweet, the actor starred in the debut film, Menace II Society. Unfortunately, the project never came to fruition due to some kind of disagreement between Allan and Tupac.

Allan Hughes sustained injuries because of the altercation with Tupac and his minions. Tupac Shakur had to spend two weeks in jail and declined his role in the movie. The rapper said he wanted his part in the movie to be more substantial.
Speaking with reporters from MTV News, Hughes said Tupac’s impact during the filming of the movie would’ve been too great, because around that time, Tupac was much more famous then the movie would’ve been. In other words, his presence and star power would’ve outshined the rest of the cast and crew.
Allan Hughes recently helmed the movie, The Defiant Ones, which shined a light on the relationship between Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre. As fans of the rapper know, Tupac was shot and killed in 1996, just one year before the death of The Notorious BIG – real name Christopher Wallace.

Both of their untimely deaths served as legends in the hip-hop community over the years. Tupac’s legend, however, has far surpassed Biggie’s, at least in terms of total sales. Tupac sold over 75,000,000 records and Biggie sold close to 17,000,000.
