An “amazing” 27-year-old dad has been named as the man killed in a freak accident over the weekend, with loved ones expressing their shock and heartbreak.

Jake Bashford was washing his car outside his house in Queensland’s Mount Morgan, about 40km from the town of Rockhampton, Sunday at 3pm when it rolled forward and struck him before crashing into a nearby fence.

The much-loved “beautiful man” was rushed to Mount Morgan Hospital, but later died.

Mr Bashford has since been remembered as an “all round good person” who was an excellent friend, partner and dad.

Speaking with news.com.au, one loved described him as a “beautiful young man”.

Another said he was “an amazing guy” who was “one of a kind” and “always had me smiling”.

“He was a great father and knew the real definition of friendship. He gave me one of my first saddles for my horse and helped teach me how to ride properly. He was taken from us way to soon and I’ll miss him with every fibre of my being. My deepest condolences to his family,” she said.

He was known for always having a smile on his face by another friend.

“Jake was truly an all round good person and I never saw him with out a great big smile on his face. We would always stop and have a chat or a joke,” she said.

“He will be missed greatly in town and I’m heartbroken for his family, children and friends.”

Others posted tributes to social media, offering condolences to his loved ones.

“Rest in peace mate. Condolences to his family,” one person wrote.

“Condolences to his family, thinking of him and all his family and friends in this saddened time. May he rest in peace,” someone else said.

“Such a good and decent man gone from his beautiful and loving family too soon. My condolences to mum and bubs. Such a heartbreaking time and this sadness is deep,” another wrote.

“Sending so much love to his family at this very sad time. His big smile and wave and a chat will be very missed. RIP mate,” someone wrote in a comment.

Police said early investigations indicated he had been washing his car while it was stationary on Hall Street.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating, police said.
